Why is Marketing needed? and What kind?

Marketing, an open ended term, isn’t it? It’s hard to scale this term, right? I feel you guys.

Let’s jump straight into this. Let me tell you guys, the water here isn’t shallow; it’s hard to fathom the depth of this topic. Let’s talk it out.

We all know what marketing is. The main question is why we need it. What begets the need of marketing?

Let’s say, we have a product that is phenomenally good. Over here, only I know that it is good.  What if, I want to let people know about it, perhaps for earning money by selling it or just making an online presence for that product? Either ways, we need marketing to achieve the above said motto. By virtue of the print media; newspapers, magazines, billboards marketing has been taken place. Undoubtedly, it had done better, perhaps the world was not that faced paced or there wasn’t a cut throat competition like we have today.

I believe; “Any change is only desired, when the current state has been changed”

That being said, gone are the days, when the world  was on moderate pace, people would just take a bus to commute and get off at the station, and happen to glance at  billboards, flyers and even take the time out to go through them, there and then. Or a bunch of fellas strolling down the road, and a billboard caught their eye, read them but there wasn’t reminder to resuscitate that memory, remind them about that advertisement. .

Now take the print media into consideration.

Did you take the time to read every single advertisement the last time you flipped through a magazine? I’m willing to bet the answer is no. You only read the advertisements that caught your eye, right? When a company purchases an ad in a magazine with a large readership, they’re paying for that readership, regardless of whether or not anyone actually notices the ad. This is where the genesis of Digital Marketing comes from.

Digital Marketing is nothing other than marketing online. Digital marketing is the component of marketing that utilizes internet and online based digital technologies such as desktop computers, mobile phones and other digital media and platforms to promote products and services.

Digital Marketing Just another one of those new, fancy buzzwords you should use to sound smart in meetings or is it the real deal?

Maybe a better question is: what is digital marketing?

First popularized as a term in the early 2000’s, digital marketing has actually been around much longer.

Like, WAY longerAbout 100 years longer, to be exact.

Here’s a pic of the first digital marketer in history.

Guglielmo Marconi.

Let’s cut to the chase now:

If you are wondering what digital marketing is… it’s is advertising delivered through digital channels. Channels such as social media, mobile applications, email, web applications, search engines, websites, or any new digital channel.

Google and Facebook generate more revenue than any traditional media company because they control more eyeballs. That’s why digital marketing matters, it is where the attention is.

Let’s understand this in layman’s term:

Suppose, you have a product or a service. There must have been some reason behind its existence. Some may want to have an online presence, and some to earn some money by selling it or servicing people.

Now the question is, would that be possible if only you know about it?. To achieve any one of the above goals you need recognition, acknowledgement.

This is where; Digital Marketing comes into play as it helps you to make the stuff conspicuous to the world via many digital platforms like google, Fb, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.

Did you know?

But advertising online is different. You can avoid wasting thousands on ads that never convert by paying when consumers engage with your ad instead.  It about advertising in the right place, at the right time and saying the right things to the right people. As you can see, a lot of preparation goes into running the ideal ad. But play your cards right and your ads will make you money, instead of cost you money. Evolving further, a new version of digital marketing is flooding the market. So, without further ado, let’s dive into this.

Performance Marketing is a comprehensive term that refers to online marketing and advertising programs in which advertisers (a.k.a., “retailers” or “merchants”) pay marketing companies (a.k.a, “affiliates” or “publishers”) when a specific action is completed; such as a sale, lead or click.

Unlike other forms of traditional advertising where fees are paid up front and do not depend upon the success of the ads, advertisers in performance marketing only pay for successful transactions. Performance marketing has successfully reversed the traditional value proposition of advertising and also allows for real-time measurement of ROI.

In Digital Marketing, the money is charged upfront, and then the services are performed. There are chances of getting the full benefit out of these services, but it’s not 100 percent return on investment Performance marketing, you pay on a per-result basis.

Performance Marketing is like a postpaid connection, in which you have to pay once you get the service. It could be like the advertising agency would charge you certain amount (in terms of %) worth the amount of sales produced per month.

The beauty of this is that it not just only charges you for a service upfront, rather it helps you get more sales, as the cut of the agency is dependent on amount of sales generated. So, this becomes a 2 way street and the company as well as the advertising agency work hard to increase sales. This gives the optimal benefits to the customers as well as the one working on it(Agency.
